“柔和”与“忧郁”
--论沈从文作品的“情绪”

摘  要: 沈从文将“情绪”置于文学创作的核心。其作品的“情绪”以“柔和”与“忧郁”为基本的情感元素,二者交织于诸多层面形成动态的情绪流。这一情绪流在时间之维具有绵延性,在空间之维具有弥散性,由此形成其作品绵延如水又如烟似雾的感性氛围。在这一感性氛围中,“柔和”映照出沈从文对湘西世界的沉醉与温爱以及人与自然的契合,它弥漫于作品的肌体形成其作品人与土地互依的诗性空间,这既是其湘西题材作品牧歌情调滋生的土壤,也是他撷取生命理想形态的根基;“忧郁”在形而下层面与“柔和”互融形成其湘西题材作品“美丽总是愁人的”意境,在形而上层面通过对“人事”进行过去、现在与未来的观照使其作品在深处获得悲悯的历史感。以“情绪”为触媒实现作品的审美,是沈从文作品最主要的审美特征。“柔和”与“忧郁”交织体现出沈从文寓悲于美、寓心境于物境、寓哲思于诗意的审美意图,基于此其作品获得了多重审美效应。

“Soft” and “Melancholy”

--the “Mood” of Shen Congwen’s Works

Abstract: The “mood” is the core of Shen Congwen’s literary creation. “Soft” and “melancholy” are the basic emotional elements in his works. Both emotional elements were fused together into the dynamic emotional flow in a lot of aspects of his works. The mood flow stretched in the dimension of time and diffused in the dimension of space, thus forming the perceptual atmosphere like smoke and fog. In the atmosphere, “soft” reflects that Shen Congwen was dizzy with Xiangxi and loved it, and the correspondence of man and nature. It permeated the fabric of the works and formed the poetic space that people and their land fused each other. It is the fountain of emotional appeal of soil, and also the foundation that on which he captured the life’s ideal form. “Melancholy” melted with “soft” because the “beautiful and sorrowful” artistic conception in the physical level, and in the metaphysical level through the reflection to the past, present and future on “human events” gained the deep sorrow sense of history. The aesthetic realization by the “mood” is the most of the main aesthetic characteristics of Shen Congwen’s woks. The interweaves of “Soft” and “melancholy” reflecting the aesthetic intention that the beauty and the sadness, the scenery and the mood, the poetry and the philosophy fused each other. By this way his works gained multiple aesthetic effect.
